India Semi-final Scenario: Defeated Zimbabwe, now what is India’s equation for the semi-finals? Learn in one click

Indian Team Scenario For Semi-final: The Indian team defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs in the second match of its Super-8. In the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Team India, batting first, scored 256/4 runs on the board and then restricted Zimbabwe to 184/6 runs. After this victory, a question arose as to what is the equation for India reaching the semi-finals.

Let us tell you that Team India, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, played the first match of Super-8 against South Africa, in which they had to face defeat by 76 runs. After this defeat, Team India was in danger of being out of the race for the semi-finals. But now after the victory against Zimbabwe, this equation seems to be completely reversed.

India’s equation for the semi-finals

Let us tell you that two matches were played on Thursday (26 February). The first match was between South Africa and West Indies. By winning this match, Africa made the path easier for India.

Then in the second match, India defeated Zimbabwe, thereby becoming the first team from Group-1 to reach the Africa semi-finals.

Now Team India has to play the next i.e. last match of Super-8 against West Indies on Sunday, March 01. By winning this match, the Indian team will secure a place in the semi-finals.

Understand the equation from the points table

If we look at the points table of Group-1, Africa has made it to the semi-finals. Whereas Zimbabwe has been eliminated. Both the teams have played 2-2 matches and have to play the third match against each other, due to which there will be no problem in deciding the second semi-finalist team.

The remaining 2 teams of the group i.e. India and West Indies have also played 2-2 matches. Both have to play their third match against each other. At present both have 2-2 points. In such a situation, the team that wins the match against each other will make it to the semi-finals with 4 points.
