OpenAI ChatGPT: The world’s largest AI company OpenAI has revealed shocking facts in its latest report. The company made this report public for security reasons and said that in recent months some people misused ChatGPT. This abuse was not limited to simple spam but included activities such as romance scams, influence peddling, and fraud on an international scale.
Romance scam and dating fraud web
According to the report, some fraudsters created fake love stories with the help of AI and trapped people. Especially in Indonesia, many men were duped through fake online relationships. Trust was won through compelling messages, profiles and ads generated by AI.
The victims were lured with huge earnings in exchange for easy work. In many cases, thugs used to pretend to be lawyers and apply legal pressure and demand money. The conversation generated by AI seemed so real that people did not even realize the deception.
Influence campaigns and political targeting
The report also revealed that some accounts deliberately tried to run false campaigns. One of these attempts was said to be related to targeting the first female Prime Minister of Japan.
Additionally, some fake profiles posing as policy experts or advisors were sending emails to US officials to exert ideological influence. The company described these activities as a well-planned and coordinated effort.
Data collection and fear of cyber crime
Indications related to traditional cyber crime were also found in the report. Some banned accounts tried to collect sensitive information in conjunction with other tools. These included information related to American citizens, data from online forums and even details related to the location of government buildings. In some cases, attempts were also made to understand the functioning of facial recognition software, which was considered a serious threat from security point of view.
OpenAI’s strictness and further strategy
The company says that it constantly monitors suspicious activities and takes immediate action as soon as any misuse comes to light. All such accounts have been permanently closed. Also, the company clarified that the more powerful AI is becoming, the more its risks are also increasing. Therefore, security measures are being strengthened and collaboration with relevant agencies is being done to prevent such misuse in future.
