Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday appealed to all Telugu citizens living in Iran and Gulf countries to be extremely cautious and strictly follow the guidelines of Indian embassies. He clearly said that in any emergency, the Telangana government will work with the Central government to ensure the safe return of every Telugu citizen.
Situation worsened in Western Asia
The situation in West Asia is deteriorating rapidly. America and Israel launched extensive air strikes on Iran, in response to which Iran targeted American military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that all the bases of Israel and America have come under the target of their missile attacks. Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE confirmed the attacks, while one person died while intercepting a missile in the UAE. Due to news of closure of the Strait of Hormuz, maritime traffic in the Gulf has also come to a standstill.
Telangana government expressed concern
In this explosive environment, the concern of the Telangana government is natural, because lakhs of Telugu families work and maintain their homes in these Gulf countries. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed state government officials to maintain constant touch with Indian embassies and consulates in the respective countries and be ready at all times for any necessary action. He said that the Telangana government is keeping a close watch on the situation of its citizens living in these countries.
Similar situations had arisen earlier also
This is not the first time that the Telangana government has faced such a challenge during the Gulf crisis. During the Israel-Iran war in June 2025, 25 Telangana residents were killed, including seven from Iran and eighteen from Israel. Was brought back home safely, that experience has made the government already active and prepared this time.
What did Telangana CM say?
The Chief Minister said in his message that the safety of the citizens of Telangana is the first priority of the state government. He expressed confidence that all Telugu brothers and sisters will remain safe and requested them to stay away from rumors spread on social media and trust only official information. At a time when the entire Gulf region is burning in the flame of war, this assurance has brought a sigh of relief to the millions of families whose families are settled in this blazing area.
