Patiala House Court has granted bail to 9 out of 10 Youth Congress workers arrested for protesting at the AI Summit. All of them have got bail on a bail bond of Rs 25 thousand. Another accused Siddharth Avadhoot has been sent to police custody for 4 days. Earlier on Thursday (February 26), the Congress workers arrested were sent to police custody for three days by the Patiala House Court. He appeared in the court today i.e. 1st March.
Indian Youth Congress President got bail
Earlier on Saturday (February 28), Indian Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib was granted bail by Patiala House Court in the AI Summit demonstration case. The court rejected the demand of the Delhi Court, in which Chib’s remand for 7 days was sought. The court has granted bail to Chib on a surety bond of Rs 50,000. The court has also imposed a condition that he will deposit his passport and electronic gadgets in the court.
There was uproar during AI summit
Apart from top leaders of the country and the world, CEOs of many big companies participated in the AI Summit organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Indian Youth Congress workers had protested in this summit. After this, the police took action and arrested many workers including Indian Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib. In Chib’s arrest memo, he was described as the main conspirator and mastermind of the illegal gathering at Bharat Mandapam. Apart from this, Congress leaders were also arrested from different parts of the country.
Counterattack between BJP and Congress
There has been a war of words between Congress and BJP regarding this protest held at the AI Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also targeted the shirtless protest of Congress during a public meeting in Meerut. BJP has accused it of damaging the country’s image. At the same time, Congress is calling the arrest of Congress workers unconstitutional. Congress said that the Constitution of the country gives every citizen the right to protest and we are not afraid of these tactics.
