Captain Suryakumar Yadav on Sunday said that opener Sanju Samson, who scored 97 runs against West Indies, got the fruits of his hard work and also said that India deserved to play the T20 World Cup semi-finals.
India defeated West Indies by five wickets to enter the semi-finals where it will face England in Mumbai on March 5. Suryakumar told the broadcaster after the match, “It feels very good.” It was like a quarter final. The way the team played was fantastic.
He said, “I always say that good things happen to good people.” Sanju was working hard and got the results. He said, “The way we have been playing since the first match, we deserved the semi-finals. Won’t think about it now. Will go to Mumbai and will see what needs to be done there itself.
What did Sanju Samson say after the match
Samson told the broadcaster after the match, “There was always this question of what if it doesn’t happen.” He said, “But whenever that thought came, I brought myself to the present and kept playing by looking at the ball and believing in myself.” Samson said that he has learned chasing the target from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
He said, “I have been playing this format for a long time.” I have been playing in IPL for 10-12 years and for the country for a decade. Despite not being in the final eleven, watching from the dugout, I have learned from greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
He said, “This is one of the biggest days of my career. It means everything to me.” From the day I started playing, I dreamed of playing for the country. I was waiting for this day.
