Iran-Israel: A shocking report has emerged amidst increasing tension in West Asia. It is being claimed that Israel allegedly hacked a popular Namaz app used in Iran and through it sent messages to millions of people in which military personnel were appealed to lay down their arms and separate from the current regime.
Notifications sent during attacks
According to the report, this incident occurred at a time when military activities were intense in the area. A report in The Wall Street Journal said that these push notifications sent early Saturday may have reached a large number of users across Iran.
In these messages, the army and security forces were asked to leave the government and join the campaign to liberate the country. It is being considered a part of military action as well as information and psychological strategy.
What was written in the messages?
According to WIRED, a website reporting on technical matters, it was written in a notification that the time of revenge has come and the repressive forces will be punished for their actions. It was also said that those who join this campaign in the name of protecting the country will be given amnesty and security.
In another message, an appeal was made to the security forces to either lay down their arms or support the freedom forces, only then they would be able to save their lives.
Which app was targeted?
It is being told that an app named BadeSaba Calendar became the medium of this cyber attack. This app is widely used in Iran to view daily prayer times and religious calendar. These sudden alerts surprised the users.
Signs of cyber and psychological warfare
Although this alleged cyber operation has not been officially confirmed by Israel, the report has indicated that its purpose may be to weaken the morale of Iran’s security system.
At the same time, no detailed statement has come out from the Iranian authorities in this matter. However, in the past Tehran has accused foreign governments of cyber attacks during conflicts.
This entire incident has made it clear that modern war is no longer limited to weapons only, but digital platforms and information systems have also become strategic weapons.
