Afghanistan cricket team was able to register two wins in 4 matches of the group stage. Their match against South Africa lasted till the double super-over, but Afghanistan could not enter the semi-finals. Let us remind you that Afghanistan had reached the semi-finals in the 2024 World Cup.

According to Cricbuzz, Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Officer Naseeb Khan has made it clear that changes are being discussed within the team.
Naseeb Khan said, “If you are preparing a team for the future, changes are inevitable. We have already changed the head coach, batting coach and trainer. Similarly, there can be changes within the team as well.”

Afghanistan team has got a new coach
After the 2026 T20 World Cup, Jonathan Trott has been removed from the post of head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team. His place has been taken by Richard Pybus, who comes from England. Naseeb Khan has also made it clear that Richard Pybus will take over as the head coach of the Afghan team after the white ball series against Sri Lanka. This series will be played from 13-25 March. Talking about the support staff, Toby Radford has become the new batting coach. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether there is going to be a major change in the captaincy as well.

Afghanistan team will also come on India tour
This year, Afghanistan cricket team will also visit India, where it will have to play one test match and 3 ODI series. The test match between India and Afghanistan will be played in New Chandigarh from June 6, this will be the first time that a test match will be played here. The ODI series of both the teams will be played from June 14-20.
