Amidst the Iran-America-Israel war, India has completely rejected a big rumor. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that America is not attacking Iran using Indian ports or naval bases. This claim is completely ‘fake and false’.
What was this claim and what clarification did the Ministry of External Affairs give?
Claim- This news started from an American channel One America News Network (OANN), where former US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor had said in an interview that America’s own bases and harbors have been destroyed, so it is now dependent on Indian ports. He said, ‘All our bases have been destroyed. Our port facilities have been destroyed. We have to depend on India and Indian ports, which is not ideal.
Cleaning- MEA’s Fact Check account posted on The post read, ‘Fake News Alert! The claims on American channels like OAN that Indian ports are being used by the US Navy are fake and false. We caution against such baseless and fake comments.

Impact on India’s trade and energy supply chain
India is repeating again and again that it is not on any side in this war. We are completely neutral and do not allow anyone to use our land, ports or airspace. MEA had earlier also said that tension should be reduced only through talks and diplomacy. This war is affecting the security, trade and energy supply chain of about one crore Indian citizens.
This claim came at a time when a US submarine sank the Iranian warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean, killing at least 80-87 crew members. This ship was returning from the Naval Exercise (MILAN 2026) held in India. But India made it clear that our ports had no role in this attack.
