Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has again targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Iran-America-Israel war. He posted on X and said that the world has now entered an unstable phase and difficulties will increase in future. Rahul mentioned the threat to India’s oil supply and questioned the silence of the PM.
India’s oil supply in danger due to Hormuz Strait
Rahul Gandhi wrote, ‘The world has entered an unstable period. There are stormy seas ahead. India’s oil supply is in danger, because more than 40% of its imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The situation of LPG and LNG is even worse. The war has now reached our backyard, where an Iranian warship was sunk in the Indian Ocean. Still the Prime Minister did not say anything. At such a time, we need a strong hand, but India has a compromised Prime Minister, who has surrendered our strategic autonomy.
Oil becomes expensive due to closure of Strait of Hormuz
India’s oil imports from Iran are very high and due to increasing threat on the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices are skyrocketing. The Iranian ship that Rahul mentioned is IRIS Dena, which was sunk by an American submarine in the Indian Ocean. That ship was returning from India’s MILAN 2026 Naval Exercise and more than 82 soldiers died in it.
What is the meaning of PM Modi’s silence?
Rahul Gandhi has earlier also been cornering PM Modi on foreign policy. He alleged that India’s strategic independence is being weakened due to the silence of the PM. Congress also supported this and said that the government should answer in Parliament. However, BJP rejected it as ‘politics’. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the PM’s silence is strategic and India is working neutrally.
