USA-Israel Iran War Effect on Cricket: The bad conditions in the Middle East have started affecting the cricket world as well. Due to the ongoing war between USA-Israel and Iran, a total of 6 matches of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2 to be held in Nepal have been postponed. Tri-series matches were to be held between Nepal, Oman and UAE at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu. In view of the security situation, it has been decided to postpone this tri-series.

This series has been postponed for now citing security reasons. Nepal Cricket Association gave information through social media and said that the new dates of the series will be announced after talks with the cricket boards of other countries.

These matches of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2 were to start from March 10 in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. All the boards will take any further decision regarding the tri-series only after discussing among themselves.

What is Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2?

The Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2 organized by the ICC is an important part of the qualification process for the 2027 ODI World Cup to be held next year. Let us tell you that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be played next year in the hosting of South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. World Cup League-2, this is a league of 8 teams which runs for about three years and whichever team remains in the top-4, gets a place in the 10-team World Cup Qualifier. The matches of Nepal, Oman and UAE were to start from March 10, but due to the bad conditions in the Middle East, this series will not be held at the moment. The next round of League-2 will be played in the beginning of April, in which Scotland, Oman and Namibia will play.

The bad conditions in the Middle East have also affected other sports. Recently, Indian badminton star PV Sindhu was stuck in Dubai. She has now returned to India, but could not be a part of the All England Championship.
