After defeating England by seven runs in the thrilling semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav attributed the victory to the bowlers and excellent fielding and said that it is an incredible feeling to reach the final of this tournament. After scoring 253 runs for seven wickets, India restricted England to 246 runs for seven wickets.
Suryakumar said after the match, “It is an incredible feeling. Going to Ahmedabad for the final is a very special feeling for the players.
During England’s innings, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav admitted the tension and said, “I was very nervous, my heartbeat had reached 160-175. By the time we entered the field, the stadium was 80% filled. Hopefully, we would have shown a good game to the audience.”
Praising the contribution of Sanju Samson (89) in the team’s big score, he said, “When Samson had to come out to bat, he completely knew what he had to do. The team needed the same performance from him and he did the same.
He said, “I told Harry (Brooke) how many more runs we need to score against you. He was always in competition and was chasing the target well. But the way Bumrah, Arshdeep and the rest of the bowlers turned the match back towards us, it was incredible. It was a brilliant bowling performance.
Akshar Patel took two brilliant catches in the match while Hardik Pandya ran out England’s centurion Jacob Bethlad at a crucial juncture.
Suryakumar said, “We also have to give some credit to our fielding coach T. Dilip. The players are responding brilliantly and working extra hard, the effect of which is visible on the field.
