Anthropic AI: Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the ways of working. The use of AI is continuously increasing, especially in office related work. However, it is still difficult to understand how big an impact it will have on the job market in the future.
To understand this, AI company Anthropic has prepared a new system through which an attempt is being made to find out which jobs can be most affected due to AI.
How was this study done
In this research, economists Maxim Massenkoff and Peter McCrory have prepared a special index. The purpose of this index is to understand how many tasks are included in different professions that can be easily performed by large language models i.e. AI systems. Researchers analyzed job-related tasks and AI tools being used in the real world. If more such tasks were found in a profession which AI is already doing or can do easily, then that profession was considered to be at greater risk of automation.
These jobs may be most affected
According to the report, many technology related tasks can be most affected due to AI. Especially the professions related to programming are mentioned above in this list. The study revealed that about three-fourths of the everyday tasks of programmers are such that AI systems can handle them.
Apart from this, customer service employees, data entry employees and experts handling medical records are also among the professions on which AI can have a greater impact.
Some professions are still considered safe
However, not all jobs will be affected by AI. It has been said in the report that the role of AI is limited in tasks where physical effort and human presence is necessary. For example, jobs like cooking, lifeguarding and cleaning utensils are currently considered safe from automation to a great extent.
Have jobs started disappearing because of AI?
There is certainly increasing concern about job losses due to AI, but this study has not yet found any concrete evidence that jobs have started to disappear on a large scale. However, since the introduction of AI tool ChatGPT, there has been a slight change in the unemployment figures between jobs affected and less affected by AI.
Change visible in recruitment trend
Researchers also found that a slight change has started appearing in the pattern of recruitment. Especially for young candidates, the pace of jobs seems to be slowing down. There are signs of decline in recruitment for candidates aged 22 to 25 years, and this situation is especially seen in areas where AI tools can handle some tasks.
