Gogoi also hit back at Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s statement. He said that the ruling party will field a candidate from an ordinary family in Jorhat. Danger of drugs increased in many areas including Jorhat
Gogoi also emphasized that the menace of drugs is increasing in many areas of Assam including Jorhat. This is a serious concern. Incidents of violence and clashes have increased in recent times. These people talk about concern for safety and well-being. He said that if people from criminal background join politics, it increases crime in the society. It is important to raise voice against such people. Gogoi said that people associated with crime and drugs will not be tolerated under any circumstances in politics.
He reiterated that the Congress Party is committed to a new, progressive and inclusive Assam. The aim of the party is to bring schemes which focus on development, employment opportunities, social interaction and welfare of the society.
There is a difference between Lok Sabha and Assembly elections: Gogoi
Gogoi said that the dynamics of Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections are different. Lok Sabha elections focus on national issues. Assembly elections are related to governance and people related problems.
Gogoi hopes that an alliance can be formed with Raijor Dal before the coming assembly elections. Unity in the opposition is necessary to strengthen democratic politics in the state.
BJP can field him against Gogoi
BJP can field many potential candidates in the elections. Among these, former assembly speaker and current MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami is included. Apart from these, the party can also field youth leaders Siddhanku Ankur Barua and Shantanu Pujari in the elections.
