An Indian driver has won a jackpot of Rs 37 crore in UAE. He had been buying its tickets continuously for 15 years. Now he wants to come back to his homeland India. According to Khaleej Times, Vibish works as a pickup driver in Palliyali Transport Company. The jackpot he bought on February 28 has made his fortune.
Vibish told Khaleej Times that I had already bought a set of tickets worth Dh1000 while going to India on February 7. On 28th February, my cousin and his two friends called me and asked me to get the ticket. I tried to tell him that I have already spent this month’s budget, but he kept telling me again and again. I took the ticket so as not to disappoint.
Palliyali has been working as a driver in UAE for almost two decades.
Palliyali has been working as a driver in UAE for almost two decades. He had bought the ticket online at around 8 pm. That was the winning entry. He received this life-changing news when he was returning home to Sharjah from Abu Dhabi after his last delivery.
He said that I am a regular customer. So I usually get calls from the company, but they usually call in the middle or end of the month and say there is an offer on tickets. I wonder why they would call me on the evening of every month.
I thought it was a prank call: Palliyali
When told that he had won the jackpot, Palliyali said he was shocked. I asked him if it was a prank call. Although I knew it was not so. Later I called my wife. Told that I had received a call. He immediately checked online and then told me that my name was on the website as the winner.
‘This victory has been achieved after years of hard work’
Palliyali said that this victory was achieved after years of hard work. I have been buying regular tickets every month for the last 15 years. As you can imagine. As a driver, setting aside Dh1000 every month was a difficult task. Many times my wife used to complain that the money could be used for other things. For a few months I didn’t even tell him that I had bought the ticket. He never watched the draw live or checked the results immediately. Buying tickets was just a way of life for me. I never thought that I would win this or do anything with this money. My only wish was to win something in a day, even if it was a prize of Dh100000?
This reward will be divided among 4 people
Post-win plan: The prize of Dh15 million will be divided among 4 people. This will leave Palliyali with a little less than Dh4 million. After driving in UAE for almost 20 years, we are now planning to return and settle in India. I have been driving across the UAE for 20 years. I want to go back and settle in India. This money will definitely help in this.
He said that he is also planning to secure the future of his daughter, who is currently studying BBA in Bengaluru after completing her studies from Sharjah Indian School. Palliyali said that the truth of the victory is still sinking into his mind. Maybe after a few days it can be decided what to do next?
