Ekta wanted to create different content for the youth
In an interview with Usha Kakade, Ekta Kapoor told that when she decided to launch ALTT app, there was a lot of debate at home. His parents wanted him not to start such a platform because he has a strong and respected image in the industry. Ekta has also received the Padmashree Award, so the family felt that an app with bold content would tarnish her image. But Ekta believed that she had made family and traditional stories for a long time, so now she wanted to create a different kind of content for the youth.
Had to listen to taunts every day at home…
Ekta also laughingly told that due to this she had to listen to a lot of taunts at home. After starting ALTT, he had to hear more taunts than he had to hear about not getting married. Since morning, her parents used to tell her to close this platform. Her parents started behaving exactly like in-laws and eventually Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor resigned from this platform.
Indian government bans ALTT app in 2025
Let us tell you, in the year 2025, the Government of India had banned many OTT platforms along with ALTT because obscene and objectionable content was being shown on them, which does not follow the rules. At that time, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had blacklisted 24 OTT platforms like ULLU, Desiflix and Big Shots along with ALTT. However, Ekta Kapoor later clarified that she and her mother had separated from ALTT in June 2021 itself and now they have no connection with it. Currently, she is focusing only on her production company Balaji Telefilms.
