Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has claimed that its ballistic missiles have attacked the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, rendering it no longer operational and forcing it to retreat from the Gulf region.

Iran’s state TV said that after the attack, the American ship and its accompanying attack crew were seen fleeing the area at high speed.
State television did not provide any information about this claim. The Guards, an ideological wing of the Iranian military, had previously accused Lincoln of attacking it, but the Pentagon said at the time that the missiles launched did not even reach it.

According to a report by CBS News, a US Navy ship attempted to fire at the Iranian ship with a 5-inch, 54 caliber Mark 45 cannon. Although it was not immediately clear which naval vessel fired at the Iranian ship, a CBS report citing American officials said that the American strikes missed the Iranian ship several times. It is also not clear whether these were fired as a warning. According to reports, this incident took place earlier this week and the location of the Iranian ship is not yet known.
