Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and currently a member of the Expediency Council, has strongly rejected international demands for a ceasefire amid the conflict with the US and Israel. He emphasized that Tehran is in no mood to do ceasefire at this time and there will be no ceasefire without winning the war.
What is Rajai’s strategy to win over US?
According to CNN report, Rezai said that Iran does not intend to end the current military confrontation until a decisive outcome is achieved. Through this statement, Rezai has made Iran’s stance stronger than ever. This is also being seen as a very important change in Tehran’s strategy. Now Iran is moving towards adopting the strategy of a long and exhausting war (War of Attrition). The purpose of this strategy is to test the tolerance of America’s military and economic presence in West Asia.
On which fronts does Iran want to break America?
According to Rezai’s statement, the Iranian leadership believes that if this war drags on for a long time, it will ultimately prove to be unstable and costly for America. Tehran’s strategy is to increase pressure on America on three major fronts, which include economic stability, military resources and causing humanitarian damage.
Citing intelligence sources, CNN reported that this message is also being spread widely on Iran’s social media platforms to create the impression that America, which has never been defeated in the end, will have to withdraw from the Persian Gulf. It is believed that by presenting a strong and unyielding image, Tehran is trying to convince both regional countries and the American public that the cost of remaining in the Gulf region may outweigh the strategic benefits for America.
