Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has demanded Bharat Ratna for Kanshi Ram. He has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this. Now BJP has hit back and taunted him. While sharing a post on X, Rahul Gandhi has also shared a copy of the letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Reposting Gandhi’s post, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has targeted Congress and put it in the dock for not giving Bharat Ratna to Kanshi Ram till now. Nishikant Dubey said that during his time, Bharat Ratna Jawahar Lal Nehru ji, Indira Gandhi ji and Rajiv Gandhi ji were given to father and son Panch Barda i.e. Bharat Ratna in the house itself. Kanshiram ji died in 2006, till 2014 he was MP, General Secretary and President of Congress Party. Never remembered?
What did Rahul Gandhi demand in the letter written to the Prime Minister?
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had written in his post that I demand the Government of India to honor the great warrior of social justice and guide of Bahujan consciousness, Honorable Kanshi Ram ji, with Bharat Ratna. This highest national honor will be a tribute to Kanshi Ram ji and the entire movement which showed the path of rights, participation and self-respect to crores of Bahujans. In this post, Rahul Gandhi has also tagged the official handle of PMO India.
Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi has written in his letter that our Constitution promises equality, dignity and participation to every Indian. Kanshi Ram ji dedicated his life to the people standing at the lowest rung of the society. For many years, intellectuals, leaders and social workers have been raising the demand to honor him with Bharat Ratna. This demand of theirs has been raised continuously and with deep emotion.
Who was Kanshi Ram?
Kanshi Ram was an Indian politician and social reformer. He worked for the political integration and upliftment of the Bahujans in the Indian caste system. To this end, he founded Dalit Shoshit Sangharsh Samiti, All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation in 1971 and Bahujan Samaj Party in 1984.
