Telangana Budget Session 2026: AIMIM MLA missing during Vande Mataram in Telangana Assembly, BJP enraged and said – Why so irritated?

The budget session of Telangana Assembly started from today and Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram were read before the beginning of the assembly in which all the party members were present, but AIMIM MLAs remained absent, on which they were accused of walkout by Bharatiya Janata Party.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s address both began and concluded with full singing of the Telangana state anthem ‘Jai Jai Hey Telangana’ and Vande Mataram, as per the recent directive of the Central Government.

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar gave a strong reaction

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar gave a strong reaction to this absence of AIMIM. He posted on This is not just a protest, it is a direct insult to our national anthem and the spirit of our motherland. Why is AIMIM so irritated with Indian symbols? His real face has now been revealed to everyone. This statement of Bandi Sanjay quickly spread on social media and gave new impetus to the political debate.

This is not the first case of AIMIM opposing Vande Mataram.

This is not the first time that the issue of AIMIM and Vande Mataram has come into limelight. When the Mayor gave permission to play Vande Mataram on the request of BJP MP Raghunandan Rao in the general meeting of GHMC in November 2025, the AIMIM councilors protested strongly and some councilors kept sitting and protesting. In that meeting, AIMIM and BJP members climbed on the chairs and started shouting slogans and the Mayor had to be warned to call marshals. History seems to be repeating itself.

This stance of AIMIM is not new. Even in Bihar Assembly, party MLAs had refused to sing Vande Mataram. The party’s argument has been that singing Vande Mataram is against Islamic beliefs. There has been no official response from AIMIM yet.
