Akshay Kumar breaks silence on comedy actors not getting awards

Actor Akshay Kumar is in the news these days about his upcoming film ‘Bhoot Bangla’. This film is a horror-comedy, which is being made by famous director Priyadarshan. Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are working together after almost 14 years, the teaser of which has received a lot of love from the audience. Meanwhile, in a recent program, Akshay Kumar spoke openly about comedy films and his career.

Akshay learned comedy from these directors

In a conversation at India Today Conclave 2026, Akshay Kumar told that in his film career, he has worked in about 150 films and has got the opportunity to work with more than 70 directors. But he has a special tuning with director Priyadarshan. Working with Priyadarshan has always been fun and I have learned a lot about comedy from him. He also understood the nuances of comic timing and acting from director Rajkumar Santoshi. If they have even a little knowledge of comedy then these directors have a big contribution in it. Comedy cannot be taught to anyone, it comes from within the artist.

Akshay’s statement regarding comedy actors

He believes that it is easy to make someone cry by applying glycerine in a scene, but making someone laugh wholeheartedly is a very difficult task. Akshay Kumar also said that often comedy artists in award events do not get as much recognition as they should. He has rarely seen that an actor who has done comedy in the entire film has received the ‘Best Actor’ award. Even big artists believe that comedy is the most difficult genre.

This film, directed by Priyadarshan, is going to be released in theaters on 10 April 2026, from which the audience has high expectations.
