Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday (March 16, 2026) met Ajay Malik, Assistant Commandant in the Cobra Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), at the CRPF Mess in RK Puram, Delhi. In fact, two weeks ago, Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik was seriously injured in an IED blast during the operation against Naxalites in Jharkhand.
He suffered serious injuries in this IED blast, due to which he was brought to the country’s capital Delhi for treatment. Considering the seriousness of the injury, one of his legs also had to be amputated. Rahul Gandhi met Ajay Malik and his family to know about their well-being and appreciated their courage and spirit of service.
Sacrifice and dedication of security forces is an inspiration for the country: Rahul
During this, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi said that the sacrifice and dedication of the security forces who risked their lives for the country is an inspiration for the whole of India. He also wished Ajay Malik to get well soon.
Ajay continued in the campaign even after being injured
Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik, despite being seriously injured in the operation against Naxalites in the forests of Jharkhand, remained at the front leading his soldiers. However, later he was immediately admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for treatment.
CRPF had launched a campaign in Singhbhum, Jharkhand.
Actually, CRPF had received information about the presence of Naxalites in the forests of Marang Ponga located in Saranda of Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. As soon as the information was received, CRPF made a plan and surrounded the Naxalites from all sides in the forest. After this, the encounter started between CRPF soldiers and Naxalites at around 5 in the morning.
In the encounter, Assistant Commandant Ajay Malik was seriously injured in the IED blast, while during the second encounter at around 10 am, Constable Vikram Yadav was also injured by the bullet. Both the injured officers were admitted to Delhi AIIMS Hospital after first aid, where they are undergoing treatment.
