TMC fields 291 candidates, Mamata Banerjee will not contest from Nandigram, left 3 seats for this party

Trinamool Congress has announced the names of candidates for 291 seats for the West Bengal Assembly elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that BGPM led by Anit Thapa will contest elections on 3 seats in Darjeeling.

CM Mamata Banerjee will contest elections from Bhawanipur. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while releasing the list of TMC candidates, said that the Election Commission is playing a ‘good game’ on behalf of BJP and they should directly campaign for BJP. He claimed that TMC will win more than 226 seats in the assembly elections to be held in Bengal in 2026.

Mamta Banerjee will not contest elections from Nandigram seat

CM Mamata Banerjee had lost the election from Nandigram seat to BJP’s Subhendu Adhikari in the 2021 assembly elections. After this, she reached the assembly by winning the by-election from Bhawanipur. This time he has decided not to contest elections from Nandigram seat. TMC has given ticket to Pavitra Karkey, who joined the party today from Nandigram. Pavitra was a close aide of opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari and played an important role in Suvendu Adhikari’s victory in the 2021 assembly elections. He was arrested in 2021 in connection with the murder of a TMC worker.

TMC left 3 seats for which party?

TMC has fielded Mustafizur Rahman from Bharatpur seat in Murshidabad district. Himayun Kabir was the MLA from this seat who had created the Babri controversy. TMC has left Kalimpong, Kurseong Darjeeling seats for Anit Thapa led BGPM.

Trinamool Congress has fielded Chandrima Bhattacharya from Dum Dum North seat, Madan Mitra from Kamarhati seat, Firhad Hakim from Kolkata Port seat, Kunal Ghosh from Beleghata seat, Dr. Shashi Panja from Shyampukur seat, Jyotipriyo Mallik from Habra seat. Abhishek Banerjee said that out of 291 TMC candidates in the West Bengal elections, 52 are women, 95 are Scheduled Caste-Scheduled Tribe and 47 are minorities.
