According to the information, Balachandran, a resident of Padaranthappuli village, was living with his wife Tiruketheeswari and two sons, 22-year-old Kanakaraj and Balabharathi. In connection with his profession, Balachandran left his hometown and started living with his family in Poonamallee area of Chennai, where he used to make mixer packets and sell them in shops.
It is being told that his elder son Kanakaraj had become addicted to drugs, especially ganja and he often used to fight when drunk. Fed up with his habit, the family sent him back to his hometown Padaranthappuli, where he started living with his grandmother Madathi Ammal.
Snatched gold earrings and ring from grandmother
Before the incident, on the 13th, Kanakaraj had snatched gold earrings and a ring from his grandmother on the pretext of asking for money to repair his bike. Grandmother informed her son Balachandran about this incident. After this, Balachandran sent Rs 2,500 to his son through G-Pay on the demand of Rs 70 thousand and assured to give the rest of the money later. After receiving the money, Kanakraj returned grandmother’s jewellery.
However, the very next day Kanakaraj called his parents and threatened that if he was not given the remaining money, he would kill his grandmother. Apart from this, due to drug addiction, he was also fighting with other people of the village. Grandmother Madathi Ammal complained to her son in this regard and said that she could no longer handle him and he should be immediately taken to Chennai.
Kanakraj attacked his father
Hearing this, Balachandran angrily reached Padranthpuli village with his wife the same night. When the parents reached there on Sunday night, Kanakaraj again demanded money from them. A dispute started between the two regarding this matter. It is said that after the fight, Kanakaraj went out for some time and then returned home at around 12:15 in the night. At that time he questioned his father whether he was sleeping without paying and also argued with his mother and attacked her.
Angered by this, Balachandran first picked up a stick and hit Kanakaraj on his head and angrily said that he was fed up with his actions. Despite this, Kanakraj tried to attack his father again. Meanwhile, Balachandran picked up the grinder’s stone kept nearby and hit him hard on the head.
