After the death of Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview to Al Jazeera that the death of a big personality like Larijani will not have any impact on Iran’s government or system. Iran’s system is running smoothly even after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s system does not depend on one leadership: Araghchi
Araghchi said, ‘I don’t understand why America and Israel have not understood this yet. The political structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran is very strong. Political, economic and social institutions are well maintained here.
Abbas Araghchi further stressed, ‘The arrival or departure of one person does not shake the entire system. Yes, every person has his own role. Some work better, some less, but the real thing is that Iran’s political system is based on a very solid and strong structure. Araghchi also reminded that Iran’s system did not waver even after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, because it does not run on any one person but on strong institutions.
What is the whole matter?
The attack on Ali Larijani is part of the larger conflict between America and Israel over Iran. After the assassination of Khamenei on 28 February 2026, Larijani is now the most senior leader of Iran to be targeted. Israel says that Larijani was the architect of security policy and had taken many major decisions on behalf of Iran. There have been two major setbacks from Iran’s side so far, first the Supreme Leader and now Larijani.
Country’s policies will not change: Araghchi
Despite this, this statement of the Foreign Minister is giving the message of Iran’s strength. Araghchi clearly said that the country’s system is not dependent on any one or two people and it is completely stable. Currently Iran-Israel tension is at its peak. Attacks and counter-attacks are continuing from both sides. Israel is also being attacked by Iran and the situation is changing rapidly. This statement has come at a time when all eyes are on the situation in Iran across the world. Araghchi’s interview is a clear message from the Iranian government that even though big leaders are being killed, the country’s system and its policies will not change.
