Assam Election: Big blast in Congress before Assam elections! Relationship of decades broken on ‘one ticket’, said Priyanka Gandhi

Just before the Assam Assembly elections, political turmoil within the Congress has intensified. The resignation of senior leader and MP Pradyut Bordoloi has raised big questions on the party’s strategy and internal situation. Reacting to this entire incident, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi termed it “very unfortunate” and hinted that resentment over ticket distribution could be the main reason for this decision.

Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘This is very unfortunate. “I believe he was upset over the allocation of a ticket and we regret that we did not get a chance to speak to him on this issue.” His statement shows that if communication had happened in time, perhaps the situation would not have become so serious.

charge of neglect and insult

On the other hand, Pradyut Bordoloi cited neglect and insult within the party as the main reason behind his resignation. He said, ‘Today I have given up one of the most important principles of my life and I am not happy with it, but this decision had to be taken because I was being humiliated on many issues within the Congress party, especially in the Assam Congress. Even the party leadership was not showing sympathy towards me. I have spent my entire life with Congress, but now I feel very alone.

Meanwhile, Congress, trying to handle the situation, has fielded Bordoloi’s son Prateek Bordoloi as its candidate from Margherita assembly seat. This is being seen as a strategy to maintain political balance, but the question is also being raised whether this will reduce the resentment within the organization.

Opposition’s attack on BJP

On the other hand, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi accused the ruling BJP at the Center of weakening the opposition. He said, ‘What is happening is a matter of concern. Continuous departure of people from Congress and cross voting in Rajya Sabha is an example of this. The way the ruling party is trying to destabilize the opposition by using pressure and greed is shameful. There is a shortage of talent in BJP, so it has to bring people from other parties.

Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi also said after meeting Bordoloi, ‘The Chief Minister of Assam is trying to tarnish the image of our senior MP Pradyut Bordoloi politically through the media. I and General Secretary Jitendra Singh have met him and discussed the upcoming elections in detail. He further said, ‘I have come after talking to him and I condemn the kind of things that are coming out in the media.’

BJP claims no talks with us

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, ‘I have no contact with Pradyut Bordoloi. I don’t think he has talked to any BJP leader yet. The possibility of contacting them in future cannot be ruled out. It is noteworthy that voting for 126 assembly seats in Assam will be held in a single phase on April 9 and counting of votes will take place on May 4. The BJP-led NDA government is trying to return to power for the third consecutive time, while the Congress is struggling to return to power.
