Delhi High Court has given its verdict in favor of Gautam Gambhir in the deep fake case. The court has provided protection to Gambhir’s personality rights. The High Court has ordered Meta, Google and Amazon to remove objectionable posts. Actually, Gautam Gambhir had said in his petition that his name and image were being misused and also he had demanded removal of the content being used to spread misinformation.
Gautam Gambhir had earlier withdrawn his petition, so that he could file a new application with more accurate information. Gambhir said that his voice and photographs were being used commercially without his permission. For this, technologies like deep fake, AI manipulation are being misused.
Judge Jyoti Singh heard the arguments of both the parties and after examining the disputed link (URL) found that many posts violating the personality rights of Gautam Gambhir were present on the online platform. An AI generated video of Gambhir resigning was uploaded, which garnered 29 lakh views within a short time.
Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir’s lawyer Anant Dehadrai said that many objectionable links have been removed, but they are being shared again and again.
