The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a list of 27 candidates fielded in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2026, contesting Union minister L Murugan fielded from Avanashi seat and former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan from Mylapore.
The Mahila Morcha national president of the BJP, Vanathi Srinivasan, will enter the fray from Coimbatore (North), according to a list issued by the party. The party has also named Kirthika Shivkumar as its candidate from Modakkurichi.
S Vijayadharani has been fielded from Vilavancode Assembly constituency and Nagesh Kumar from Thalli seat.
Polling for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly is slated to be held on April 23. The votes will be counted on May 4.

A recent opinion poll has given the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) an advantage in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The DMK-led alliance is projected to retain power with a sweeping majority in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, according to a survey released by Poll Tracker.
The survey predicts a clear edge for the front, forecasting it to secure between 172 and 178 seats in the 234-member house. The primary opposition, led by the AIADMK, is projected to lag significantly with 46 to 52 seats.
Another opinion poll has predicted a neck-and-neck contest between DMK chief MK Stalin and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led opposition in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, the NDA is projected to form the government, winning between 114 and 127 seats. The majority mark in the Tamil Nadu election 2026 is 118.
As per the opinion poll, , the DMK alliances combined are predicted to win 104-114 seats, a few seats short of crossing the majority mark.
