Despite 21-hour historic peace talks in Pakistan, a peace agreement could not be reached between America and Iran. Due to which the future of the ceasefire which was implemented for two weeks also seems to be in limbo. Both sides are trying to blame each other for the failure of talks. Iran alleges that no agreement could be reached due to the US’s excessive and strict demands.
What did Araghchi say?
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi posted on the social media platform He held America directly responsible for this.
He said Iran had come very close to reaching a deal with the US before the talks failed, but Washington’s last-minute “extreme stance, changing targets and creating obstacles derailed things”.
In intensive talks at highest level in 47 years, Iran engaged with US in good faith to end war.
But when just inches away from “Islamabad MoU”, we encountered maximalism, shifting goalposts, and blockade.

Iranian speaker targets America
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued his first official statement after the end of ‘Islamabad Talks’. He claimed that America failed in these inconclusive talks. Ghalibaf told X that even before the talks started, he had made it clear that both the intention and willingness from Iran’s side were present, but due to the experiences of the last two wars, he was not confident.
Ghalibaf said that before the talks began, he had stressed that we have the necessary intentions and will, but due to the experiences of the last two wars, we have no confidence in the opposing side. He said, the opposition side ultimately failed to win the trust of Minab 168 in this round of talks.
He said that, Iran is a body of 90 million people, all those brave people of Iran who followed the advice of the Supreme Leader and took to the streets, supported their children and with their blessings led us forward on this path. For this I am grateful to them and I say this to my colleagues who were with me during these 21 hours of intense conversation.
Peace talks in Pakistan failed
After 40 days of conflict, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire. Islamabad Talks were organized under the leadership of Pakistan on 9-10 April. The US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance while Ghalibaf took command of the Iranian delegation. On Sunday, JD Vance announced that the deal was not sealed. Before leaving for America, he said in a press conference that the talks remained inconclusive. He claimed that this is not good for Iran.
