In his letter, the Union Minister said that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act passed by both the Houses of Parliament in the year 2023 is the result of a long-standing aspiration of the country and it is a historic step towards giving women their rightful place in the decision process.

She stressed that if necessary steps are not taken now, there may be a delay in implementing women’s reservation before the 2029 elections. Therefore, the present time is the most appropriate and logical to move forward in this direction.

Rejecting the allegations of no consultation by the opposition, Kiren Rijiju said that dialogue with various parties was started from March 16, 2026 itself. This issue was also discussed at individual level during the budget session and a detailed reply in this regard was also given on 26 March. With the aim of building consensus, several rounds of meetings and dialogues have been organized by the government with various political parties, including many leaders of NDA and non-NDA parties including Samajwadi Party, DMK, TMC.
