Prime Minister Narendra Modi took on Trinamool Congress during a rally in Purulia, West Bengal on Sunday (April 19). He made serious allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that she is anti-tribal. PM Modi also accused TMC of promoting infiltration. He said that due to infiltration the language and culture of Bengal is changing. He accused TMC of establishing Mahajungalraj.
PM Modi alleged that Trinamool ignored the tribals, occupied their lands and pushed the region into a cycle of corruption, fear and backwardness. He said, ‘Due to infiltration, changes are being seen in the language and culture of Bengal.’
Before the 2026 assembly elections, BJP has intensified its stance on identity and demographic issues. He alleged that under the Trinamool government, Santhali language and tribal identity are being insulted, while record budget is being allocated for madrassa education. Modi said, ‘Santhali language is being insulted, while record budget is being given for madrassa education. This is just appeasement.
Trinamool gangs captured tribal lands – Prime Minister Modi
The Prime Minister claimed that there is a severe shortage of roads, drinking water, employment and basic facilities in the tribal dominated districts of Bengal. He alleged that tribal lands have been captured by Trinamool gangs. Modi said, ‘No work gets done in Trinamool’s Mahajangalraj without giving ‘cut money’ (bribe).’ Terming the Mamata Banerjee government as a ‘ruthless government’, he said that it is only interested in ‘loot’ and not in the welfare of the tribals.
PM accused TMC of corruption
Modi said, ‘Trinamool has given nothing except atrocities, loot, corruption and Mahajangalraj.’ He said the people of Purulia, Bankura and Jhargram had earlier supported the BJP because they wanted “freedom from fear and extortion”. The Prime Minister claimed that the atmosphere in Purulia has now turned decisively against Trinamool. He said, ‘The whole of Purulia wants change and is saying ‘change is necessary.’ (Need to turn)’
By using this slogan in Bengali language, he tried to convey that public anger against Trinamool is increasing in the western part of West Bengal. Modi alleged that Trinamool’s “corruption and atrocities” terrorized the people of Bengal, but now people are considering BJP as “the only credible option”.
