Politics heated up due to attack on Mithali Bagh in West Bengal, TMC made serious allegations against BJP, know the whole matter

A case of violence has come to light amid the election atmosphere in West Bengal. TMC has alleged that BJP workers attacked the convoy of party MP Mithali Bagh when she was going to Arambagh to attend the rally of party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Mithali Bagh has been admitted to the local hospital after being injured in the attack. According to officials, at present the situation in the area is calm and security forces are deployed.

TMC’s allegation- ‘deadly attack’
TMC claimed on social media platform The party described it as an ‘attempt on his life’ and alleged that the attack was carried out by BJP workers.

Direct allegations against Amit Shah
TMC also targeted Union Home Minister Amit, saying that this incident happened only after his ‘provocative speech’. The party alleges that Shah had threatened the leaders and workers from the stage, and the result of the same was seen on the streets.

Political equation of Arambag seat
The Arambag seat is currently held by BJP’s Madhusudan Bagh, who defeated TMC’s Sujata Mandal by 7,172 votes in 2021. This seat has earlier been a stronghold of CPI(M). This time BJP has fielded Hemant Bagh, while Meeta Bagh is in the fray from TMC and Bithika Pandit of CPI(M) is also contesting.

Police action and election environment
Earlier, West Bengal Police has arrested four people in connection with the violent clash between TMC and BJP supporters outside Jagatdal police station. The second phase of voting in the state is to be held on April 29, while the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
