1. Mitchell Starc got Rs 24.75 crore in IPL 2024
Australia’s dreaded fast bowler Mitchell Starc made his first entry in the IPL in 2015 with Royal Challengers Bangalore. After this, Starc returned to the league after 9 years in the mini auction of IPL 2024. In this mini auction, there was a fierce competition between Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans regarding Starc. Eventually, KKR bought him for a record price of Rs 24.75 crore, which was 75.69% of KKR’s total purse at that time.
2. Pat Cummins also got Rs 20.5 crore in IPL 2024 only
Current Australian captain Pat Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.50 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2024. Just a few minutes before Mitchell Starc, Cummins had made the record of becoming the most expensive player in IPL history and this was the first time in IPL history that a player had received an amount of more than Rs 20 crore. Although Cummins took only 18 wickets that season at an expensive economy rate of 9.27, under his captaincy he took the team to the finals after 8 years.
3. Sam Curran got Rs 18.5 crore in IPL 2023
England’s star all-rounder Sam Curran was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.5 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2023. Karan had won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award in the T20 World Cup 2022, due to which he was in huge demand in the mini auction of IPL 2023. Karan did not perform anything special in that season. Where he gave away runs at an average of 48.90, but scored 276 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 135.96. Nevertheless, he was retained and given the captaincy of the Punjab Kings team in the next season.
4. Cameron Green also got Rs 17.5 crore in IPL 2023 only
Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.5 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians had released Hardik Pandya in IPL 2022, due to which they were looking for an excellent all-rounder. Due to this, Mumbai Indians tried their best to buy Cameron Green. That season, Green played brilliantly and scored a total of 452 runs at a strike rate of 160.28. In this, while chasing the target of 201 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored a century and gave Mumbai entry in the playoffs.
5. Ben Stokes got Rs 16.25 crore in IPL 2023 only
Current England Test captain Ben Stokes was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 16.25 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2023. Stokes is also among those all-rounders for whom the mini auction of IPL 2023 proved lucky. But this deal was not beneficial for CSK. Stokes suffered a left knee injury due to a slip and fall, due to which he could play only two matches in the entire season. In which he scored 15 runs and bowled only 1 over. Stokes has never been able to play IPL after this season.
6. Chris Morris got Rs 16.25 crore in IPL 2021
South African all-rounder Chris Morris was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021 mini auction for Rs 16.25 crore, which was the highest amount paid to a player in any IPL auction at that time. In IPL 2021, Maurice took 15 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 9.17 and was able to score runs at an average of only 13.40. After this season he never got a chance to play in IPL.
