Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday (December 29, 2025) condemned the case of racial murder of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Dehradun. He said that this is a very shameful incident for the country. Such an incident should never happen. He said that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is taking action on the incident that took place in Dehradun. Strict police action should be taken on this.
He further said that no one should be made fun of. Any incident is a tragic incident for the country. If any such incident happens in the country then the entire society should come together and fight against it.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, ‘Uttarakhand government has taken vigilance and perhaps 5 people have also been arrested. This is not a political issue. There should be security for the people of North East. When PM Modi took oath as the Prime Minister, 20-40 incidents were normal, but with the formation of Delhi Special Unit, the number of incidents reduced. This thinking disease occurs only in a few people, awareness is necessary for this.

He said, ‘Why should anyone of any caste, creed or religion be made fun of? Not only the people of North East, but everyone should be sad about this, because it can happen to anyone. Not even a single such incident should happen. We have been the target of racism in the country. Even today in other countries, those who do not have fair skin are targeted, but this should not happen within the country. This is a country with different thinking, there are people of different thinking and religions here.
