Recently, government agency Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center has issued a warning regarding USSD call forwarding scam. In this, scammers ask people to dial USSD code, due to which all the calls and messages coming on the user’s phone start reaching the scammer. Taking advantage of this, scammers are hacking people’s phones and emptying their bank accounts. With the help of a simple USSD code, you can also find out whether your phone has been hacked and whether your calls are being forwarded.
How to check call forwarding on phone?
Its method is very easy and you can figure it out in a few seconds. For this, first open the dialer of the phone. Now enter *#21# in it and press the call button. Within a few seconds the status of call forwarding will appear on your screen. If you see ‘Note Forwarded’ message here, it means that your calls and messages are not being forwarded. Whereas if a number is written before any call, message or data, it means that that service is being forwarded.
How to disable call forwarding?
If you see an unknown number in front of a call, message or data service, then there is a need to take immediate action. To disable it, open the dial again and enter the code ##002# and press the call button. Once this process is completed, the call forwarding service activated on your phone will be disabled and you will be protected from hacking. You can repeat this process every month. Apart from this, if you feel that the messages and calls coming to your number are going somewhere else, then do this process immediately and stay safe from scams.
