Hyderabad Weather: Airport in Hyderabad wrapped in dense fog! Many flights cancelled, know the latest situation

Due to dense fog on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday (January 2, 2026) morning, visibility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad was significantly reduced, due to which flight services were severely affected. Air India’s Delhi-Hyderabad flight had to be cancelled, while Indigo’s Hyderabad-Tirupati flight was significantly delayed. Due to low visibility, it became difficult for pilots and airport management to operate many flights on time for safety reasons.

The situation remained uncomfortable in the surrounding areas of the city also. The blanket of fog was so thick in Rajendra Nagar, Kismatpur and Shamshabad as well as on many parts of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) that the speed of vehicles on the road slowed down considerably. Due to poor visibility, drivers were forced to exercise caution, resulting in long traffic jams in the morning hours.

Airport management issued advisory

The airport management has appealed to the passengers to check the updates from the airlines before the flight and keep an eye on the advisory before leaving home, so that the journey can be convenient. The Meteorological Department has already warned about cold and fog and has indicated that there will be no significant change in the situation for the next few days.

Difficult to get out in the morning

It is becoming difficult for people living on the outskirts of the city to move out in the morning, especially commuters going to office and airport are facing delays. The administration has advised people to drive safely and limit essential trips only for today. Even in the country’s capital Delhi, many flights have already been canceled due to bad weather, due to which passengers have to face a lot of difficulties.
