Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu has recently filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court against his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya. He has also demanded a compensation of Rs 30 lakh. Along with this, the singer has also demanded the removal of those interviews in which his ex-wife has made false and harmful allegations about him.
This fight has come to light after more than 20 years of their divorce. The divorce of Kumar Sanu and his ex-wife was finalized in 2001 and the hearing of this case is to be held on December 17. It has been claimed in the petition that the singer’s ex-wife gave interviews on many platforms, in which she made serious allegations against Kumar Sanu.
Rita Bhattacharya had made this allegation
In the interview, Rita Bhattacharya had said that during her pregnancy, she was kept hungry, the kitchen was closed, milk and medical care were not given and during this time court proceedings were also conducted. She even accused her ex-husband of having an affair with someone else and ignoring the family.
Her interview in September 2025 went viral on social media. It has also been revealed in the report that it has been said in the petition that whatever comments Rita Bhattacharya has made on her ex-husband violates the terms of the consent recorded during their divorce.
Let us tell you that their divorce took place in Bandra Family Court on 9 February 2001. According to Kumar Sanu, this agreement included a condition that neither of them would make allegations against each other in future. It has also been said in this petition that due to such things, the actor’s image has been tarnished professionally and on social media, due to which he has also had to face financial loss.
Let us tell you that on September 27, a notice was sent to Rita Bhattacharya as well as the media platform that aired her interview. It was said that if the interview was not removed then strictest action would be taken against him.
