WhatsApp users will soon see a big change. Actually, the GIFs which have been available till now in WhatsApp are about to change. Now not only GIFs are changing but the way they are sent and displayed in chat will also be completely different. According to reports, this update will be implemented from July 1 this year, after which millions of WhatsApp users around the world will be able to send GIFs in a new way.
What are GIFs and why is this change happening?
The full name of GIF is Graphics Interchange Format. It is a digital file format for images that supports static pictures and short, looping and soundless animations. Like emoji, people also use GIF a lot for chatting on WhatsApp. Till now a company named Tenor was providing GIFs to WhatsApp, but now this company wants to stop its service, after which WhatsApp has had to look for a new provider. According to reports, WhatsApp has chosen Klipy as its new GIF partner. Tenor’s service is till June 30, 2026. To avoid problems for users after the closure of this service, WhatsApp has already partnered with Klipy. The service of the new provider will start from July 1.
WhatsApp has started testing
WhatsApp has started testing GIFs from the new provider. These GIFs have been seen in version 26.2.10.70 of WhatsApp beta for iOS, after which it is being speculated that the company will roll it out for all users by the deadline of June 30. Apart from this, WhatsApp also wants to change the way of searching GIF on its platform. Now GIF keyboard will be shown in three columns instead of two, which will make it easier for users to search.
