There was a sudden commotion in Jubilee Hills, the VIP area of Hyderabad, on Thursday (February 26) afternoon, when a massive fire broke out in the famous Mangala Gauri shopping mall located on Road No. 36. The fire started from the clothing showroom and quickly spread throughout the building, creating an atmosphere of chaos there.
As soon as information about the incident was received, three fire brigade vehicles immediately reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire is going on war footing. The flames are so strong that they have engulfed the entire mall, although no casualties have been reported so far.
Police sealed the surrounding area
According to local sources, the fire started suddenly and was fueled by the large stock of clothes kept in the mall. Since there are clothing shops, the fire is spreading very fast and the flames have reached the upper floors. Within no time the entire mall was surrounded by smoke, causing panic in the surrounding area. The police immediately sealed the surrounding area so that people can be kept at a safe distance and the fire brigade squads can work easily.
Ignoring fire safety rules is a major reason
Jubilee Hills is a major commercial and residential area of the city, where thousands of people come and go every day. Such an incident raises serious questions about the security arrangements in such a sensitive area. In the recent past, incidents of fire have been reported in many big shopping complexes and commercial buildings in Hyderabad. It is often seen that fire safety rules are ignored in old buildings or crowded markets, which causes such major accidents. This incident once again shows the importance of safety layout and fire safety audit.
At present, efforts to control the fire are going on and every possible effort is being made by the administration. Officials present at the spot said that the situation will be brought under control soon. There will be a discussion between the mall owners and the administration as to what was the real cause of the fire and whether the safety measures were not reviewed in time. The correct assessment of the loss will be possible only when the fire is completely extinguished.
