Actor Vijay appeared before CBI in Karur stampede case, officers interrogated for 6 hours

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay for about six hours on Monday in connection with the Karur stampede case. Officials said that Vijay will be called again for questioning as some questions still require further clarification. CBI wanted the actor to appear for questioning on Tuesday, but he requested to appear on some other date citing Pongal. Officials said the agency has accepted his request and he will be given a new date.

Actor Vijay reached CBI office amid heavy security

Vijay reached the CBI headquarters at 11:29 am in a black Range Rover car under heavy security cover. After completing the necessary formalities, he was taken to the team of the agency’s anti-corruption unit which is investigating the stampede case that took place in Karur, Tamil Nadu on September 27, 2025. In this stampede, 41 people lost their lives and more than 60 people were injured.

Officers interrogated for about 6 hours

Officials said that after being interrogated by a team of officers for about six hours, he left the CBI headquarters at around 6.15 pm. He was asked various questions related to the rally in which the tragic incident took place. CBI also interrogated former Tamil Nadu ADG (Law and Order) S Davidson Devasirvatham in this case.

Heavy security forces deployed keeping the fans in mind

In view of the possibility of a huge crowd of supporters of the actor-politician, several units of Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces were deployed around the CBI office building. Some fans managed to get a glimpse of the actor by getting through the media persons gathered outside the CBI office. Ayyanar, who works in a multinational company in Noida, told news agency PTI, ‘We all live in Delhi. We are about 40 fans who have come here to get a glimpse of the actor. We all are big fans of Vijay.

Vijay had reached Delhi by special plane

According to party sources, Vijay along with his colleagues left for Delhi from Chennai by a special flight at seven in the morning. CBI has also interrogated many party officials in this case. After the order of the Supreme Court, CBI took over this case from the SIT and is collecting evidence.
