The controversy over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling the niqab of a Muslim woman is not stopping. Now, senior member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Muslim religious leader Maulana Sajjad Nomani has given a big statement regarding this controversy. Maulana Nomani compared CM Nitish Kumar with Taliban and called him a mental patient. He even appealed to the Muslim leaders of Janata Dal United to expel Nitish Kumar from the party.
Senior AIMPLB member Maulana Sajjad Nomani said on Thursday (December 18, 2025), ‘It is the misfortune of this country that people who are mentally ill have got the post of Chief Minister of an important state.’ He said, ‘If Taliban declares any dress mandatory for women in their country, then you and I oppose it, but in our country a Chief Minister does not allow a woman to wear the dress of her choice.’
Muslim women write letter against Nitish Kumar
Maulana Sajjad Nomani has appealed to Muslim women to strongly oppose this. Apart from this, write a letter to the President of India, Speaker of both the Houses of Bihar, Chief Justice of the country and Chief Justice of Patna High Court and legal action should be taken against it. He said that the freedom of Muslims has been snatched here.
What did Maulana Nomani say to Muslim leaders of JDU?
AIMPLB member Maulana Sajjad Nomani has also appealed to Muslim leaders of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United (JDU) to oppose it. He said, ‘The Muslims who are in JDU should openly raise their voice against their nominal leader. The voice should be raised within the party and Nitish Kumar should be thrown out of the party.
