Due to the sudden situation in Iran, the airspace there has been closed. This has had a direct impact on the international flights of big Indian airlines like Indigo and Air India. Indigo has said in its travel advisory that some flights passing over Iran are now flying through alternative routes. This may increase the duration of flights and passengers may face delays. Flights have also been canceled on some routes
Air India has also said that in view of the safety of passengers, the routes of flights passing through Iran’s airspace are being changed and where rerouting is not possible, flights are being cancelled. Both the airlines have appealed to the passengers to check the status of their flight before going to the airport.
The situation is confirmed by a report from FlightRadar24.
According to aviation tracking platform FlightRadar24, currently no commercial aircraft is passing over Iran. All international airlines are having to operate flights by taking long detours from safe airspaces to avoid Iran. This situation is affecting not only India but global air traffic.
Impact on global flight schedules
Aviation experts believe that the schedule of international flights has been disturbed due to increasing political instability in the Middle East and closure of airspace. Many airlines have had to change their timings and routes, due to which connecting flights are also being affected. Due to this, passengers are facing extra wait and long journey.
Will return to old route when situation becomes normal
Air India has made it clear that it is constantly monitoring the entire situation. As soon as Iran’s airspace reopens or the regional situation improves, efforts will be made to return flights to old and normal routes. At present, the airline has appealed to the passengers to maintain patience and cooperation, so that this temporary situation can be dealt with in a safe and orderly manner.
