Ajit Pawar plane crash: 10999 plane accidents in 10 years, 6800 people died, the figures of plane crashes are scaring

For Ajit Pawar, who has served as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra six times, the post of Chief Minister remained a dream. He died in a tragic plane crash on Wednesday (28 January 2026). Ajit Pawar (66), a grassroots leader, died in his hometown Baramati. According to the report of Aviation Safety Network, if we talk about plane accidents in the last 10 years across the world, a scary figure has emerged. There have been 10999 plane accidents in the world in the last 10 years, in which a total of 6800 people have died, which is as follows.

  • In the year 2025, a total of 548 people died in 157 plane crashes.
  • In the year 2024, a total of 404 people died in 219 plane accidents.
  • In the year 2023, a total of 184 people died in 222 plane accidents.
  • In the year 2022, a total of 292 people died in 224 plane crashes.
  • In the year 2021, a total of 327 people died in 218 plane crashes.
  • In the year 2020, a total of 1403 people died in 4484 plane accidents.
  • In the year 2019, a total of 448 people died in 296 plane accidents.
  • In the year 2018, a total of 962 people died in 286 plane crashes.
  • In the year 2017, a total of 283 people died in 239 plane crashes.
  • In the year 2016, a total of 1949 people died in 4654 plane accidents.

Air accidents in India in last 10 years

In India alone, a total of 112 plane accidents occurred in the last 10 years from 2016 to 2025, in which the total number of deaths is 291. During this period, 31 and 6 people died in the year 2020 and 2016. Last year, Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was the victim of an accident, in which 241 passengers and 19 crew members died. Only one person’s life could be saved in this. The plane had taken off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad for London, which met with an accident just a few minutes after takeoff. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had died in the accident.

Indian Air Force plane crash

On June 3, 2019, an Antonov An-32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed 6 km north of Lipo. 13 people had died in the accident. In the year 2020, Boeing 737-8HG (WL) aircraft of Air India Express crashed at Kozhikode-Calicut Airport, in which 21 people died.
