The new release date of Alia Bhatt starrer YRF Spy Universe’s much awaited film ‘Alpha’ has been finally announced. This film, made under the direction of Shiv Rawail, will now hit the theaters on July 10, 2026. The target of ‘Alpha’ will be to earn some big numbers at the box office and also to beat the three big spy thriller records.
‘Alpha’ will have its eyes on three targets after release
The last two releases of YRF Spy Universe, War 2 and Tiger 3, did not do well at the box office. Now a lot is being expected from the first female-lead film of this universe, ‘Alpha’. Its casting is also solid. Actually, apart from Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor will be seen in important roles in the film. Although it is not as big as Pathan, War and Tiger, it can still make a place in the record books for achieving some big milestones at the box office. Along with this, its eyes are on the box office records of some 3 spy films of Bollywood, which also includes the films of YRF’s spy universe.
The main target of Alpha is to enter the top 10 spy thriller openers of Bollywood. Currently, Baby is on the tenth spot whose opening day collection is Rs. 9.3 crores, but with the arrival of Dhurandhar 2, it will be out of the list. Hence, Alia Bhatt will have to target Rs. 12 crores for Holiday, which will be at the tenth spot in the list after the release of Dhurandhar 2.
Opening day collections of Bollywood top 10 spy thriller films (according to Koimoi)
- Pathan- 57 crores
- War- 53.35 crores
- War 2- 52.5 crores
- Tiger 3- 44.5 crores
- Tiger Zinda Hai – 34.1 crores
- Ek Tha Tiger-32.92 crores
- Dhurandhar- 28.6 crores
- Bang Bang- 27.54 crores
- Holiday- 12 crores
- Baby- 9.3 crores
Entering the top 5 of spy universe
After this, the second target of Alia Bhatt’s Alpha is to break the hierarchy of spy universe openers. It has to be in the top 5. For this, it will have to beat the opening day collection of Rs 34.1 crore of Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai and make it to the top 5. If it crosses the Rs 33 crore mark on the first day, it will officially knock Salman Khan’s Tiger sequel out of the top 5.
Entry into 100 crore club in overseas
It is noteworthy that YRF Spy Universe has an excellent track record at the international level. Alpha’s third target will be to try to become the next member of the overseas Rs 100 crore club. At present Pathan (412 crores) is at the top of this list. At second place is Tiger Zinda Hai (128 crores), at third place is Tiger 3 (125 crores), at fourth place is War (91.58 crores) and at fifth place is War 2 (75 crores). It is noteworthy that War, War 2, and Ek Tha Tiger have not been able to touch the Rs 100 crore mark in overseas! Hopefully, Alia Bhatt’s Alpha can achieve this feat.
