America’s action on Venezuela, Communist Party came out in protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar

On Wednesday, various left organizations demonstrated strongly in support of Venezuela and against America at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The protesters termed ‘Operation Absolute Resolve’ run by America as one-sided, baseless and imperialist. During this time, the Indian Government was demanded to adopt a clear stand in favor of Venezuela.

The people participating in the protest were holding posters and banners in their hands. Slogans like ‘Will not tolerate Venezuelan sovereignty’, NO blood for OIL’ and ‘Down with the nexus of America and imperialist powers, the enemy of global peace’, were written on the placards.

The protesters said that external interference in the internal affairs of any sovereign country is against international rules and poses a threat to global peace.

Demand for concrete response from India

Left leader Rajeev Kunwar said that despite more than 24 hours having passed since the incident, the lack of any concrete response from the Indian government is disappointing. He said that the way the elected President of an independent country was treated was extremely shocking. He alleged that this entire action is related to imperialist interests and economic plunder, hence India should openly oppose it.

CPI said – drugs-smuggling allegations are just an excuse

CPI National Secretary Dr. Girish Chandra Sharma raised questions on America’s intentions and said that the real face of the leaders who talk about peace and democracy is now coming to light. He said that allegations like drug smuggling are just an excuse, while the real objective is to gain control over Venezuela’s natural resources, especially oil. He said that Venezuela’s challenge to the dollar-based system is also a major reason for this conflict.

Vidyasagar Giri, who was present at the protest, termed America’s action as an act of terrorism and said that this is not a new policy, but is a part of the imperialist thinking that has been going on for years. He described campaigns like ‘Absolute Resolve’ as an example of modern colonialism and said that such steps are against international law and democratic values.

The protesters warned that if this could happen to Venezuela today, then any other country could also be targeted in a similar manner in the future. He appealed to the Indian government to oppose America’s growing dictatorial tendencies and show solidarity with Venezuela.
