Android Users at Risk: Amidst the increasing cyber crimes in India, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a serious warning for Android users. The government has issued an advisory regarding a dangerous malware named Android God Mode which can silently gain complete control over your phone. This threat is considered so serious that common users have been asked to be especially cautious.
How does this dangerous malware work?
I4C, MHA has issued an advisory warning citizens about sophisticated Android malware known as “Android God Mode”, which misuses Accessibility permissions to gain unauthorized control over devices.

According to government agencies, this malware does not directly infiltrate the phone but traps users through fake apps. These fake apps look absolutely real and are often related to banking, government services or customer support. For example, famous apps like SBI YONO are copied and users are instigated to download them.
As soon as the user accidentally installs these apps, they ask for Accessibility permission. Once this permission is granted, the malware gains access to almost every part of the phone. After this, it can read your messages, steal passwords and even access banking details without your knowledge.
Why is it so dangerous?
The biggest concern about this malware is that it works silently in the background. The user does not even know and his personal information gradually reaches the hackers. It can not only steal data but can also completely control your phone.
What to do for protection?
To avoid this danger, the Ministry of Home Affairs has advised to adopt some important precautions. First of all, always download apps from trusted platforms like Google Play Store. Avoid installing the app through any unknown link, WhatsApp message or APK file. Also, think carefully before giving sensitive permissions like Accessibility to any suspicious app. If you see any strange app in your phone, remove it immediately and check its permissions.
How to report cyber fraud?
If you feel that you have been a victim of such a cyber attack, it is important to take immediate action. The government has issued helpline number 1930 for this. Apart from this, you can also lodge a complaint by visiting the official website of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.
