Three years after the film ‘The Kerala Story’, released in the year 2023, the makers have returned with its sequel ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’. Recently its trailer has been released, after which controversy has started regarding the film. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had called it false, propaganda and a threat to the harmony of the state. Now Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has also made a scathing attack on this film. He called it a ‘propaganda’ film and called the director a ‘greedy man’. Anurag Kashyap said that the maker just wants to earn money.

When Anurag Kashyap was asked about ‘The Kerala Story 2’ while talking to the media at Kochi Airport, he strongly condemned it. He also reacted to the beef scene shown in the trailer and said, ‘No one even feeds Khichdi like the one shown to feed beef.’ He clearly said that this film has been made only to earn money and wants to divide people. Anurag said, ‘The maker of this film is a greedy man. He just wants to make money.

Last week, the Kerala High Court issued a notice to the makers of ‘The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond’ and the Censor Board (CBFC). This notice came after the hearing on that petition. In which a demand was made to cancel the censor certificate given to the film. Objections were raised to the teaser and trailer in the petition. Complainant Srideva Namboothiri from Kannur district said that the film has shown women from three different states and the incidents that happened to them, but an attempt has been made to defame Kerala by presenting a wrong image of Kerala in the title of the film and in some scenes.

Chief Minister’s statement
A few days ago, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also reacted to the film. On his X account, he described it as against the secular values ​​of the state and said that it is a poisonous, false and propaganda film. He warned that the film could weaken Kerala’s tradition of religious harmony, which is vital to the state’s identity.

Producer Vipul Shah’s clarification
The film’s producer Vipul Shah, while giving a statement to HT, said that the film is based on true cases that happened in the Indian justice system. He told that along with the three main stories, many other incidents have also been included so that the film can better reflect the situation of the entire country. He says that the film is the story of three girls but it also presents the incidents of many other girls.
