Discussion on Ji Ram Ji Bill has started in Parliament. During the discussion, the opposition registered its objections regarding this bill and demanded to send it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Congress MP K.C. Venugopal said that a bill with such an important and wide-ranging impact should be considered in detail, hence it is necessary to send it to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. He alleged that the government wants to pass the bill without adequate discussion.
Speaker’s statement: 98 MPs got additional time
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha informed the House that during the discussion held a day earlier, 98 MPs had demanded extension of time to present their views, which has been accepted. Despite this, the opposition continued demanding further discussion.
Ruckus in the House, opposition MPs entered the well
During the discussion, opposition MPs expressed strong protest and started sloganeering. After this, many MPs descended into the well, disrupting the proceedings of the House.
Sharp attack by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, speaking on behalf of the government in the Lok Sabha, made a scathing attack on the opposition. Amidst the opposition uproar, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, ‘They are killing Bapu’s ideals. Expressing one’s views and not listening to others is also violence. Shivraj Singh Chauhan started his speech by saluting Mahatma Gandhi. He said that Bapu is his ideal, inspiration and faith. He said that BJP has given place to Gandhiji’s ideas in its five allegiances.
‘Village is the soul of India’ – mention of Gandhi’s thoughts
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Mahatma Gandhi had said that villages are the soul of India and if villages die then India will die. He said that village development is at the center of BJP’s thoughts and plans for this are being made for years.
Shivraj’s statement on Hindutva
The Union Minister said, ‘Victory to religion, destruction of unrighteousness, welfare of the world – this is Hindutva. ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ is also Hindutva. He said that this vast Hindutva is full of intimacy and the spirit of taking everyone along.
Attack on Congress on naming of MNREGA
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that in the beginning of NREGA scheme, it was not named after Mahatma Gandhi. He alleged that due to the elections in 2009, Congress remembered Gandhiji and then his name was added. He said that if anyone has implemented MNREGA properly and strongly, it is the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congress in ‘obsession with name’: Shivraj
Shivraj Singh Chauhan accused Congress of ‘obsession’ regarding naming. He said that Congress named schemes and institutions after its family to glorify the Nehru family. He said, ‘Gandhi’s name was given, but Congress also did the work of stealing Gandhi from Gandhi.’
Accusation of ignoring Gandhiji
The Union Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi had said in 1948 that after getting independence, Congress should be dissolved and Lok Sevak Sangh should be formed, but Nehru did not dissolve Congress for power. He alleged that the killing of Bapu’s ideals started from that very day. He also said that accepting the partition of the country, imposing emergency by Indira Gandhi – all these were against the ideals of Gandhiji.
Allegation of corruption in MNREGA
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that in the MNREGA scheme, 60 percent of the amount was fixed for wages and 40 percent for materials. He alleged that the full amount of wages was coming from the Centre, but only 26 percent was spent on materials. He raised the question whether there was no corruption in MNREGA and said that for this reason there was a need for proper utilization of the scheme.

During his speech, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, ‘Today I will speak, I have to tell the country. They can’t silence me. My name is also Shivraj Singh Chauhan and I am a dedicated worker of BJP. He said that Modi government only believes in work, while Congress has been pretending.
