‘Atik was the second name of fear’: Amidst the film ‘Dhurandhar’ controversy, the big revelation of former IG, the complete story of power-contact and crime.

The controversy over the character of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has now become the cause of a new debate in the triangle of law-order, politics and cinema. Former Prayagraj IG Surya Kumar has given an open statement on Atiq’s influence, his political relationships and the story till the end. At the same time, the sharp allegations of SP MP Afzal Ansari and MLA Pooja Pal have made this issue more sensitive.

Recalling Atiq’s dominance, former IG Surya Kumar said, “Often such people present themselves as ‘sympathizers’. He also used to distribute money among many people. He used to give funds for needs like weddings, so as to strengthen his public image. As far as political parties are concerned, he would either donate huge amounts or use his influence to suppress those who oppose him. In short, his influence was so complete that his single message was enough to create terror.” However, the police never gave him any concessions. I remember when the number increased to 65, he avoided punitive action.

Statement of former IG Surya Kumar

Surya Kumar further said that this nexus of crime and power continued for a long time, but eventually the law took its course. According to him, “As it is said, the ‘pot of sin’ is filled eventually. The Yogi government initiated a massive crackdown… the root of which was the murder of a witness, Umesh Pal, in broad daylight. Umesh Pal was a witness in the Raju Pal case.

Pooja Pal fought a long struggle in this matter. Ultimately the police, government and all agencies completed the necessary action. He was killed by the same gangsters whom he had earlier eliminated. If this did not happen, the police was in the process of taking legal action. After the murder of Umesh Pal, the properties of the accused were attached. Every gangster of his gang was arrested. “It was only after these steps that the situation came under control.” Atiq Ahmed’s name remained the center of discussion for a long time in the politics and crime world of Uttar Pradesh. Its influence in Prayagraj and surrounding areas was so strong that stories of both fear and support continued to circulate side by side.

Raju Pal’s wife’s allegation

Raju Pal’s wife and MLA Pooja Pal also made a strong attack on Atiq Ahmed amid this entire controversy. He said, “Atik Ahmed ruined the lives of thousands of youth like me.” He alleged that under the protection of Samajwadi Party, criminals like Atiq continued to flourish for years and kept hollowing out the country like termites. Taking aim at the SP leadership, Pooja Pal said that if there was another government in place of the present government at that time, her life could have been in danger. Praising the action of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said that only the strictness of law and order in the state made it possible to control crime.

SP MP Afzal Ansari raised questions

Meanwhile, SP MP from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari raised questions on the plot of the film and its political impact, saying, “I have not seen that film. The film industry comes up with stories. The screenplay is not based on true events. They issue disclaimers. But they think about how their film will be successful. The story should be interesting. When they have to take advantage, sell tickets and get relief from the government, they can toss anyone’s name in the air.” They have shown the character of Atiq Ahmed who is no longer alive and has committed crimes against him. The public cannot understand this.

Atiq Ahmed’s role in Dhurandhar movie

The portrayal of Atiq Ahmed in the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has once again raised the question whether crime, power and conspiracy are really successful in the country. Statements by police officers, political reactions and allegations by victims’ families further complicate this debate.
