‘Attempt to break the fencing…’, what did the Ministry of External Affairs say on the protest outside the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh?

The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement on Sunday regarding the protests outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that no attempt has been made to break the fencing of the High Commission.

He said, ‘We have seen some sections of Bangladesh media on this incident as misleading and propaganda. The truth is that on 20 December, 20-25 people gathered in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. Slogans were raised against the brutal murder of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh. Demanded protection of all minorities in Bangladesh.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘At no time was any attempt made to break the fencing or breach the security. The police present on the spot dispersed the angry crowd within a few minutes. Visual evidence of these incidents is publicly available. India is committed to ensuring the security of foreign missions/posts in its territory as per the Vienna Convention.

Why is there an uproar in Bangladesh?,

Actually, unrest spread in Bangladesh after the death of student leader Sharif Usman Hadi. Demonstrations started taking place regarding this, which later turned violent. When the Yunus government of Bangladesh confirmed the death of the student leader, the protesters created a ruckus in Dhaka and surrounding areas. The deceased Usman Hadi was the spokesperson of Inquilab Manch. There was an attempt to murder him in Dhaka on 12 December, in which he was seriously injured.

Student leader dies during treatment in Singapore
Singapore’s Foreign Ministry has said in an official statement that leader Osman Hadi was later taken to Singapore for treatment. He had serious injuries, due to which he died. Anger flared up over his death. However, the Mohammad Yunus government talked about taking strict action against the killers and promised no leniency. Meanwhile, 27 year old Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by the mob on alleged blasphemy charges. His body was set on fire on Friday.

Criticism of this entire incident has been registered from Delhi’s side. Protests were also seen outside the Bangladesh High Commission.
