The attack by a swarm of bees during a cricket match took place on Wednesday evening at Sapru ground in Shuklaganj area. Kanpur Cricket Association umpire Manik Gupta was umpiring in it. Then during the drinks break, a swarm of bees came there and started stinging the players and umpires standing on the ground. Everyone lay down on the ground to escape, but the bees kept stinging, after which there was chaos.
The seriously injured umpire was taken to a private nursing home in Kanpur. Describing Manik Gupta’s condition as critical, the doctors referred him for first aid. Umpire Manik Gupta died tragically.
Talking to the media, an eyewitness said that during the second innings, when all the players were drinking water, the attack took place. Everyone lay down on the ground, but a swarm of bees started biting the players and umpire present there. He told that a cricketer who came from Lucknow was also bitten at many places. It is being told that 15 to 20 players have also been injured.
Let us tell you that a similar case had come to light in 2019 too, when a swarm of bees attacked the India A vs England Lions one-day match in Thiruvananthapuram. It was revealed that many people were stung by bees there, although the good thing was that no one died.
